NEET PG is required for every MD / MS seat
Management and NRI quota PG seats in private and deemed colleges are no exception — they are allotted through counselling on your NEET PG rank. There is no route around the exam.
Eligibility at a glance
- An MBBS degree recognised by the National Medical Commission
- The compulsory rotating internship completed by the cut-off date in that year's NEET PG bulletin
- Permanent or provisional registration with the NMC or a State Medical Council
- Foreign medical graduates must also have cleared the screening test that applies in their year (FMGE)

Branch or college — the real decision
At PG level, the same rank can buy you a clinical branch in a smaller college or a non-clinical branch in a famous one. Neither is wrong — but you should choose it on purpose. We go through:

- Service bonds — many states attach a bond or penalty to government PG seats
- Stipend and fees — they differ sharply between states and between government and private seats
